Intel and Tata Form ₹1.18 Lakh Crore Partnership to Strengthen India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem

Intel and the Tata Group have announced a landmark collaboration valued at ₹1.18 lakh crore, aimed at accelerating India’s journey toward becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on December 8, 2025, represents one of the most significant commitments to India’s electronics and semiconductor sector to date.

Key Highlights

  • Intel and Tata sign a ₹1.18 lakh crore MoU to advance India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.

  • Partnership spans semiconductor fabrication, OSAT services, advanced packaging, and hardware development for consumer and enterprise markets.

  • Both companies to jointly scale India-focused AI PC solutions, aligning with India’s goal to become a top five AI PC market by 2030.

A Major Boost to India’s Semiconductor Ambitions

The partnership aims to build a geo-resilient and future-ready semiconductor supply chain in India. Intel and Tata will work together across multiple verticals including semiconductor fabrication, high-end packaging, systems manufacturing, and development of computing hardware.

Tata Electronics’ upcoming semiconductor Fab and OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facilities are expected to play a pivotal role by potentially handling the manufacturing and packaging of Intel products tailored for the Indian market.

Additionally, the companies will explore advanced packaging solutions to support the rising demand for next-generation compute technologies.

Focus on AI-Driven Computing Growth

A major emphasis of the alliance is the expansion of AI PC solutions. With India projected to emerge as one of the top five AI PC markets worldwide by 2030, this collaboration brings together Intel’s AI compute reference designs and Tata Electronics’ robust Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) capabilities. The goal is to scale AI-enabled PCs for both consumers and enterprises, tapping into India’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
